Agnes of God is a Agnes, a twenty-one-year-old nun, is accused of strangling her newborn child and discarding it into the wastebasket in her convent room. The original play featured Elizabeth Ashley as the psychiatrist, Geraldine Page as Mother Miriam Ruth and Amanda Plummer as crazy Agnes. Plummer won a Tony for her performance as the nutty young nun. She'd done nothing but play mentally deranged or retarded characters ever since. During the play the psychiatrist says "you're very pretty, Agnes.".
